JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces have killed at least seven Taliban militants in the country's eastern province of Nangarhar, the military said Monday.
The incident happened late on Sunday in Khogyani district's Mirza Ali area, where Afghan National Army shelled with heavy guns the militants' hideouts, killing seven insurgents and wounding seven others, Afghan army's 201 Selab Corps said in a statement.
Military personnel and civilians were not hurt following the shelling in the mountainous province, 120 km east of the country's capital of Kabul.
Fighting rages across the war-torn country and clashes between security forces and Taliban have been continuing in most of the country's 34 provinces since early April when Taliban launched a yearly rebel offensive.
The militant group has not made a comment on the report so far.
