LIMA, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Striker Paolo Guerrero has been included in Peru's preliminary squad for the Copa America in Brazil, his first national call-up since last year's World Cup.

The 35-year-old was among the 40 players chosen by head coach Ricardo Gareca for the continental tournament, which begins on June 14, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) said on Wednesday.

Guerrero has scored five goals in eight matches for Brazil's Internacional since returning from a doping ban last month. He has not represented Peru since scoring in the team's 2-0 victory over Australia at the World Cup in Russia last June.

Gareca named five uncapped players: Kevin Quevedo, Gianfranco Chavez, Jesus Pretell, Leonardo Mifflin and Gabriel Costa.

The inclusion of Uruguay-born Costa comes four months after the Colo-Colo forward received FIFA approval to represent his adopted country.
