JAKARTA, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati claimed that the nation has achieved 20 year-low unemployment rate at 5.13 percent that in line with stable high economic growth rate at 5 percent.
The minister made the remarks in her speech to address an event to award scientists successful in their respective fields here on Tuesday.
"The sound economic growth momentum was expected to preserve further job opening. The unemployment rate now has decreased to 5.13 percent, or the lowest in the last 20 years," the minister said.
She added that the nation's economic growth has been consistent around 5 percent with controllable inflation of around 3.5 percent, currently stands at 2.8 percent year-on-year.
She expected the positive trend of positive high growth in Indonesia would be continuing, to eventually reduce poverty and social gap. She added that Indonesia's poverty rate has reached 9.28 percent at present.
"It is the first to reduce into below 10 percent since our Independence Day," the minister said.
She added that government would continue improving ways to manage state revenues and allocate state budgets in assuring compliance of government's development targets.
Amid intensifying external pressures, Indonesia recorded a 5.17 percent economic growth as of the third quarter this year, lower than that of 5.27 percent in the previous quarter.
