TORONTO, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock market rose Thursday due to gains of the energy sector.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index gained 34.97 points, or 0.21 percent, to close the day at 16,455.73 points.
The Canadian dollar edged up 0.13 to 0.76.54 U.S. dollar.
Aimia Inc.rose 1.47 percent to 3.44 Canadian dollars and Cameco Corp. gained 3.37 percent to 14.74 Canadian dollars.
Manulife Financial Corp. added 0.88 percent to 24.10 Canadian dollars.
Aurora Cannabis Inc. declined 1.3 percent to 6.85 Canadian dollars.
New Gold Inc. plummeted 20.59 percent, to 1.89 Canadian dollars and Crescent Point Energy fell 4.55 percent to 9.22 Canadian dollars while Barrick Gold Corp. dropped 6.29 percent to 14.46 Canadian dollars.
