WUHAN, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Construction on the widest bridge over the Yangtze River is expected to be completed in 2020, a local official said Tuesday.
Zhou Xianwang, mayor of Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, made the announcement Tuesday when delivering a government work report at the opening of the fifth session of the 14th Wuhan Municipal People's Congress.
The 7,548-meter-long Qingshan Yangtze River Bridge is designed as a two-way eight-lane expressway, with space reserved for two more lanes. The bridge's deck is 48 meters wide.
The bridge is the 11th Yangtze River bridge in the city, with a design speed of 100 kph.
