BEIJING, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's railway police have stepped up efforts to remove safety hazards and beefed up risk prevention measures along railway lines as the annual Spring Festival travel rush approaches.
During a nationwide clean-up campaign that started in October, railway police, in collaboration with railway authorities and relevant local departments, intensified patrols and safety inspections along railway lines and in major facilities, giving priority to high-speed rail.
Safety risks such as the storage of hazardous products and illegal construction near railway lines were recorded in the forms of videos, pictures and texts for rectification.
The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on Jan. 25 this year. And the travel rush will last for 40 days from Jan. 10 to Feb. 18.
