KIEV, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Embassy congratulated Ukraine on reviving the peace talks while the European Union's representative office in Ukraine hoped that the Normandy Four summit would open up new opportunities for the implementation of the Minsk agreements, Interfax Ukraine news agency reported on Tuesday.
"We congratulate Ukraine on a successful Normandy Format summit that revived leader-level engagement on the peace process. The talks made important progress toward a comprehensive ceasefire, the release of conflict-related detainees, and further disengagement and other measures to improve humanitarian conditions and create a secure environment for local elections," the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine wrote on its official Facebook page.
The EU representative office in Ukraine, in a statement published through Interfax-Ukraine, reaffirmed their support for the efforts of France and Germany in the framework of the Normandy Four and the work of the Tripartite Contact Group.
The representative office also expressed confidence that the quick and thorough implementation of the approved measures will have a positive impact on people's lives on both sides of the demarcation line in east Ukraine.
The leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany met in Paris on Dec. 9 for the meeting of Normandy Four summit, meant to help to resolve the conflict in East Ukraine.
