Guitar making has become a major industry that helps local people shake off poverty in Zheng'an since 2013 with support from the local government.
GUIYANG, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- A three-day national guitar making competition was held from Oct. 27 to 29 in an impoverished county in southwest China's Guizhou Province with awards for best sound quality, best craftsmanship and best design and innovation.
Guitar making has become a major industry that helps local people shake off poverty in Zheng'an County since 2013 with support from the local government.
In the past, tens of thousands of locals left home to work at guitar factories in coastal areas. The development of the guitar making industry has drawn back a large number of workers to run their own businesses.

The county has grown into a large-scale guitar producer in the world and become well known as "Guitar County" with exportation to over 30 countries and regions, including the United States, Europe, Brazil, Japan and the Republic of Korea. In 2018, it produced more than 6 million guitars. ■
