ZURICH, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- World football governing body FIFA announced eight Best FIFA Football Awards finalists on Tuesday, with Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo nominated among the final three for the Best FIFA Men's Player.
Ronaldo continued his fearsome form after he completed his move to Juventus, scoring 28 goals in all club competitions. The Portuguese hitman also helped his country lift the trophy of the UEFA Nations League.
He was joined on the podium by long-term rival Lionel Messi and Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
England full back Lucy Bronze and World Cup champions Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan are among the final three nominees vying for The Best FIFA Women's Player award.
Three top goalkeepers who made their mark in the Women's World Cup have been recognised, namely Hedvig Lindahl, Christiane Endler and Golden Glove winner Sari van Veenendaal.
Brazilian duo Alisson and Ederson are joined in the running for the men's edition by Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Milan on September 23.
