NEW DELHI, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Takehiko Nakao has met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi here and pledged to support the Indian government’s new flagship initiatives, an official statement said on Thursday.
Modi and Nakao discussed how to enhance partnership in areas such as the promotion of new technologies and innovation, renewable energy, solar-pump irrigation, electric vehicle and battery, fintech, sustainable tourism and recycling of plastic.
According to the statement, Nakao commended the Indian government’s vision to make India a 5-trillion-U.S. dollars economy during Modi’s second term in office and reaffirmed ADB’s commitment to helping bolster the country’s inclusive growth and rapid economic transformation to achieve this vision.
India is an ADB founding member.
