National political advisors to discuss education at three-day session

BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Standing Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened its eighth session Monday to discuss education development.

Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the opening of the session which will last three days.

At the session the political advisors will discuss seven topics including pre-school education, rural education, vocational education, private education and teachers' welfare, according to a statement provided to Xinhua.

Vice Premier Sun Chunlan briefed the political advisors about the recent development of the education sector, calling for joint efforts from various sectors to create a favorable environment for improving education services.

Zhang Qingli, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee who presided over the meeting, urged political advisors to pool their wisdom and offer constructive proposals on education development.
