NAIROBI, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Uganda national Under-19 team will head for Nairobi this week to defend their title at the 2019 Youth Cricket League, organizers Star Field Sports announced on Tuesday.
The third edition of the annual tournament will commence on Wednesday and be played at various venues throughout the city that will culminate in the finals on August 25 at Nairobi Gymkhana, where Kenya hosted the 2003 Cricket World Cup.
"We expect the standards to be high this year, especially after the successful high performance camp which attracted more than 100 children. Budding cricketers are also expected from cricket associations from Tanzania and across other counties in Kenya," said Karan Kaul, director of the organizers.
A total of 34 teams and more than 450 young players have entered the under-9, under-11, under-13, under-15 category in addition to the under-19 event, which is the main tournament.
