A worker cleans an armature at a maintenance workshop of large-size locomotive components of China Railway Chengdu Group in Chongqing, southwest China, Aug. 14, 2019. The maintenance work of armatures requires a high-temperature working environment, in which the insulating paint of armatures softens with 16 hours of baking at 175 degrees Celsius. To keep the temperature, workers have to carry out cleaning and polishing operations without any cooling devices. Chongqing recently has issued several orange alerts for continuous high temperatures. Despite the sweltering weather in Chongqing, workers of China Railway Chengdu Group still stick to their posts. Tang Jian, a 29-year-old worker, has been devoted himself to the career for over 4 years. Tang and his colleagues believe that it is a meaningful work to guarantee the safe operation of locomotives.
