MACAO, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Visitors on package tours to Macao rose by 16.4 percent year-on-year to 827,000 in May, the special administrative region (SAR)'s statistic service said here on Saturday.
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that package tour visitors from the Chinese mainland (639,000) and the Hong Kong SAR (16,000) rose by 17.5 percent and 53.5 percent respectively, and those from South Korea (63,000) went up by 26.8 percent.
In the first five months of 2019, there were more than 4.1 million package tour visitors, an increase of 14.7 percent year-on-year.
Outbound residents using services of travel agencies totalled 152,000 in May, up by 19.8 percent year-on-year.
There were 119 hotels and guesthouses operating at the end of May 2019, an increase of four year-on-year. Number of available guest rooms grew by 2.6 percent year-on-year to 39,000, with five-star hotel rooms rising by 3.8 percent to 25,000 (63.6 percent of total). Enditem
