MACAO, June 28 (Xinhua) -- The total merchandise export of Macao in May amounted to 908 million patacas (112.80 million U.S. dollars), down by 15.5 percent year-on-year, the special administrative region (SAR)'s statistics department said on Friday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the value of re-exports decreased 15.7 percent to 786 million patacas (97.64 million U.S. dollars), with that of machines, apparatus and parts falling 48.6 percent.
Meanwhile, the value of domestic exports dropped by 14.5 percent to 122 million patacas (15.16 million U.S. dollars), with that of copper and articles decreasing 38.5 percent.
In the first five months of this year, the total value of merchandise export increased by 7.0 percent year-on-year to 5.50 billion patacas (0.68 billion U.S. dollars), of which the value of re-exports (4.94 billion patacas) grew 10.7 percent, but that of domestic exports (559 million patacas) declined 17.3 percent.
Exports of non-textiles went up 5.3 percent year-on-year to 5.11 billion patacas (0.63 billion U.S. dollars). Exports of textiles and garments totaled 388 million patacas (48.20 million U.S. dollars), up 35.0 percent year-on-year.
