Adaption of Yan Geling's "A City Called Macao" hits Chinese screens

BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- "A City Called Macao," an adaptation of an eponymous novel by writer Yan Geling, hits Chinese cinemas Friday.

The domestic film directed by Li Shaohong tells stories of a heroine and three men, depicting colorful memories of the city of Macao and human nature.

The novel "A City Called Macao" has recently been published by the People's Literature Publishing House.

Yan published her first novel in 1986 and ever since has produced a stream of novels, short stories, novellas, essays and scripts. Among her best-known novels in English are "The Banquet Bug" and "The Lost Daughter of Happiness."

Several of Yan's works have been adapted for films and television series.
