CHICAGO, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Spring snow swept across the U.S. city of Chicago on Sunday, and a possibility of some actual snow accumulation is expected on grassy areas.
Some areas will see 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm) of accumulation on grass and elevated surfaces, according to a special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service.
Weather forecasters said that heavy wet snow would continue Sunday morning, especially along and northwest of Interstate 55. Snow could fall heavily at times resulting in reduced visibility to 0.25 to 0.5 miles (0.4 to 0.8 km).
A lakeshore flood warning was issued, as strong northerly winds to 40 miles per hour (64 km per hour) will produce waves to 9 feet (2.74 meters).
Some isolated thundersnow was reported in the morning.
