PARIS, April 9 (Xinhua) -- France on Tuesday called for efforts to avoid any move that would rekindle tension in the Middle East region after U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to designate Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organization.
At an e-press briefing, Foreign Affairs Ministry's spokesperson Agnes von der Muhll said that "We call for efforts to prevent any further escalation or destabilization in the region".
"We will continue to support the JCPOA (the Iran nuclear deal) as long as Iran continues to implement its nuclear obligations," she added.
Von der Muhll recalled that individuals and entities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard have already been subject to EU sanctions since 2010 because of their support for Iran's ballistic missile program and terrorism offences.
