RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian striker Diego Tardelli is negotiating a possible return to his former club Atletico Mineiro after parting ways with China's Shandong Luneng.
The 34-year-old is currently on vacation in southern Brazil, having left the matter in the hands of his agent Giuliano Bertolucci, who has held talks with Atletico officials, according the Uol news service.
Capped 14 times for Brazil's national team, Tardelli is a free agent after ending a four-year spell with Shandong Luneng in January.
He scored 41 goals in 73 Chinese Super League appearances for the Jinan-based club.
Atletico Mineiro, who finished sixth in the Brazilian Serie A standings last year, face their first major test of 2019 on Tuesday when they travel to Uruguayan capital Montevideo for the first leg of their Copa Libertadores qualifier against Danubio.
