GAZA, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Islamic Hamas movement, which rules the Gaza Strip, warned Israel on Saturday night that if Israel attacks the Gaza Strip, Hamas and other militants in the coastal enclave "will escalate the confrontation with Israel."
Earlier on Saturday, unknown militants fired several rockets from eastern Gaza Strip into Israeli communities in southern Israel. No injuries or damage were reported, according to Israel Radio.
Meanwhile, an Israeli army spokesman said in a press statement that the Israeli air defense system "Iron Dome" intercepted two rockets and a third one landed at an empty field near Ramat Ashkol in southern Israel.
No one claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks. However, the firing of the rockets into Israel came one day after the Israeli army shot and killed a 43-year-old woman and wounded 20 others in the weekly anti-Israel protests organized in eastern Gaza Strip close to the border with Israel.
Every time Gaza militants fire rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israeli, Israeli war jets retaliate and strike on military facilities that belong to Hamas militants and other armed groups.
