BANGKOK, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- A volcano festival is being organized as a tourist attraction in northeastern Thailand.
Deputy Provincial Governor Damrongchai Neramittakaphong of Buriram, about 390 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, confirmed on Wednesday that Buriram Volcano festival is open to Thai and foreign visitors from the upcoming Friday until Sunday.
The volcano, namely Kradong, which is located in the capital district of Buriram, is being organized as venue where indigenous OTOP (one tambon or community, one product) items and cultural shows will be featured during the three-day festival, the deputy provincial governor said.
Visitors can go on foot from the ground to get to the top of the 700-meter-high inactive volcano and view a spectacular scene, he said.
Buriram has several other volcanoes and is viewed as Thailand's province with most volcanoes, all being inactive.
