WASHINGTON, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton announced on Wednesday that he will meet with Brazilian President-elect Jair Bolsonaro in Rio de Janeiro later this month.

"Look forward to seeing Brazil's next President @JairBolsonaro in Rio on November 29th," tweeted Bolton.

Bolton also said in the tweet that the two countries "share many bilateral interests" and will work closely on regional issues.

Bolsonaro, a right-wing candidate of the Social Liberal Party, won the country's presidential run-off last month. He was expected to tackle Brazil's slow economic recovery, one of the most urgent challenges in the South American country, after taking office.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke with Bolsonaro by phone after his victory, discussing bilateral collaboration on issues including Venezuela, countering transnational crime and ways to strengthen bilateral economic ties between the United States and Brazil.
