DOHA, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The US women's team finished top of the rankings in team event on Sunday after registering a total of 174.429 points in the world gymnastics championships held in Doha, Qatar.
Angelina Melnikova led Russia, the 2010 world champions, to second place with 165.497, while China was close behind Russia with 165.196.
The Canadian team finished fourth while the Brazilian team was fifth.
American star Simone Biles had a total of 60.965 points to remain unreachable as she led 24 qualifiers into the all-around final, and she also stayed in first place in the qualification for vault, balance beam and floor exercise. She held onto second place in the qualification for uneven bars behind Nina Derwael of Belgium.
In women's all-around event, the top four qualifiers from Saturday remained unchanged. Reigning world champion Morgan Hurd of the United States stayed solidly in second ahead of Mai Murakami of Japan and Derwael.
The three medal-winning teams in Tuesday's women's team final clinch berths to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
