MANILA, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Typhoon Yutu is expected to make a landfall in the northern Philippines on Tuesday, the Philippine state weather bureau said on Sunday evening.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the eye of typhoon Yutu is located at 760 km east of Cagayan province in the Luzon island on Sunday afternoon, and it is now moving west at a speed of 20 km per hour.
Based on the prediction, typhoon Yutu will make a landfall in the Isabela-Aurora area of Cagayan province in the Luzon island by next Tuesday morning, PAGASA said.
The typhoon now has maximum winds of 200 km per hour and gustiness of up to 245 km per hour. It has a huge diameter of 800 km.
PAGASA said the typhoon may bring moderate to heavy rains to the northern and central part of Luzon island starting on Monday evening. Strong winds may be expected to affect the Eastern part of Luzon island.
PAGASA warned that flooding and landslides could be caused by the typhoon in many areas, and that travel by land and sea may be risky.
Typhoon Yutu is the Philippines' 18th tropical cyclone for 2018. The country usually gets an average of 20 tropical cyclones every year.
Typhoon Yutu, which hit the Saipan and Tinian islands early this week, caused extensive damage to critical infrastructure on the islands and displaced many families.
