HO CHI MINH CITY, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Only 15 percent of around 8,000 manufacturing companies in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City are capable of joining global supply chains, Vietnam News Agency reported Sunday.
"The status of Ho Chi Minh City's manufacturing enterprises in global supply chains is also low, mostly third or fourth level providers," said Nguyen Phuong Dong, director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade.
However, some of them are good enough to become high-level suppliers of global companies like Intel, Samsung and Honda.
