BERLIN, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Adam Szalai's brace helped Hoffenheim to turn things around against Freiburg whereas Wolfsburg came from behind to secure their second victory in as many games against Bayer Leverkusen at the 2nd round in Bundesliga on Saturday.

Hoffenheim secured their first victory of the season after beating Freiburg on the goals from Adam Szalai and Andrej Kramaric.

The hosts ensured a bright start into the game as Leonardo Bittencourt tapped home a rebound for the opener. However, the video referee ruled Bittencourt's goal offside.

Hoffenheim remained the active team but yet the goal was scored at the other end of the pitch as Dominique Heintz poked home a failed clearance from close range to stun the home side out of the blue in the 36th minute.

After the restart, Julian Nagelsmann's men eventually came to their deserved goal as a moment of madness by Freiburg's defense allowed Adam Szalai to tap home the equalizer five minutes into the second half.

Freiburg were shocked meanwhile Hoffenheim gained momentum to grab the lead for the first time in the 63rd minute when Szalai made use of Nico Schulz' cross into the box.

The visitors threw everything up front and were caught flatfooted when Hoffenheim completed a fast break via Andrej Kramaric, who slotted home into the open goal in the dying seconds of the game.

With the result, Hoffenheim reaped their first win of the season while Freiburg suffered their second straight loss.

Wolfsburg secured a 3-1 comeback win over Bayer Leverkusen, who lost their second consecutive game.

Both sides ensured a lively opening period with promising opportunities at both ends.

It came thus as no surprise as Leon Bailey's fast-paced solo run and well-placed curl into the bottom left corner opened the scoring with 24 minutes played.

Wolfsburg regrouped and restored parity in the 37th minute when Leverkusen goalkeeper Ramazan Oezcan deflected Yannick Gerhardt's shot on target from sharp angle into the own goal.

The match continued offensively minded yet Wolfsburg staged a clinical chance conversion as new arrival Wout Weghorst nodded home Jerome Roussillon to make it 2-1 on the scoreboards in the 55th minute.

The "Wolves" piled on the pressure and were not done with the scoring as Renato Steffen made the game safe after finishing off a through ball to beat Ramazan Oezcan five minutes later.

With the victory, Wolfsburg sewed up a perfect start into the season while Leverkusen were unable to avoid their second defeat in as many games.

Elsewhere, Werder Bremen left it late as Milot Rashica's free kick goal edged 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1.

Augsburg shared the spoils with Borssia Monchengladbach following a 1-1 and newly promoted Nuremberg held Mainz to a 1-1 draw.
