TAIPEI, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's industrial production index rose 4.43 percent in July from a year earlier to 109, according to the island's economic affairs authority.
The sub-index for the manufacturing sector grew 5.01 percent from a year earlier to 108.54 in July.
In the manufacturing sector, heavily weighted electronic component production rose 3.32 percent year-on-year to 107.85.
In the meantime, Taiwan's wholesale revenue grew 4.7 percent year-on-year to about 879 billion new Taiwan dollars (28.7 billion U.S. dollars) in July, while the retail and catering sectors increased 3.2 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively.
