BERLIN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Sandra Perkovic sewed up the gold medal after a throw of 67.62 meters in the discus throw final at the first edition of the multi-sport European Championships in Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Saturday.
The 28-year-old discus thrower is the only individual who managed to clinch five gold medals at European Championships.
Germany's Nadine Mueller won the silver medal with 63.00 meters meanwhile compatriot Shanice Craft grabbed the bronze medal with 62.46 meters.
"I have shown what I can achieve. Now I am going home with a silver medal. I am super stoked," Mueller said.
The first edition of the European Championships feature seven sports including aquatics events, rowing, gymnastics, cycling, triathlon and golf in Glasgow and athletics in Berlin. The competition will have more than 4,500 athletes competing for 187 gold medals until August 12.
