SANAA, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Residents and local officials said a family of eight, including women and children, was killed on Thursday when a Saudi Arabian-led airstrike hit and destroyed a house in Yemen's northern province of Saada.
The family's house is located in Ghor village of Ghamir district, about 100 km to the south of Saudi border.
The attack was the latest in a series of airstrikes that targeted civilians in the Yemeni war that has been going on for more than three years.
Last month, four civilians were killed and 11 others wounded in a coalition airstrike on a gas station in the rebel-held capital Sanaa.
The impoverished Arab country has been locked in a civil war since the Iranian-backed Shiite Houthi rebels overran much of the country militarily and seized all northern provinces in 2014.
Saudi Arabia leads an Arab military coalition that intervened in Yemen in 2015 to support the government of exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
On Wednesday, the coalition forces launched an all-out offensive to liberate the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah from the Houthis.
Aid agencies have warned that such assault on Hodeidah could cost the lives of 400,000 civilians.
