TOKYO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Monday morning as Wall Street's retreat late last week set a negative tone for investor here.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 76.34 points, or 0.34 percent, from Friday to 22,085.90.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 0.44 point, or 0.03 percent, at 1,750.69.
Precision instrument, food, and pulp and paper-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
