ANKARA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- A F-16 fighter jet crashed Thursday in Turkey's central province of Nevsehir, killing one Turkish soldier.
The jet, which took off at 6:30 p.m. local time (GMT 1530), was on a training flight when the crash occurred, the Turkish Armed Forces said in a statement.
Fire brigades, rescue units and gendarmerie forces were immediately dispatched to the crash scene.
Emergency services have recovered the body of the soldier and found wreckage of the aircraft, local media reported.
The reason of the accident remained unknown pending an investigation.
