TAIYUAN, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- A 10-kilometer-length of Spring Festival lights has been switched on in Datong City, northern China's Shanxi Province.
A total of 186 sets of colored lanterns have lit up a 3.28 square km area of the ancient city, according to Shi Yongtao, who is responsible for preparing the lantern show.
The walls of Datong dated back to 1372. In 2008, Datong started to repair the walls of the city, and the project was completed on Nov. 18, 2016.
"We have prepared the lights for three months, and we hope to build China's number one lantern show brand for the Spring Festival," said Shi.
The lights will be on from Feb. 8 to March 10.
