SUVA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Tonga police have arrested two persons for being in possession of 58 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated market value of 14.8 million U.S. dollars.
According to Radio New Zealand, Tonga police said in a statement on Tuesday that two Tongan men, aged 26 and 28, have been in police custody after police caught them in an operation in the Ha'apai Islands, a group of islands, islets, reefs and shoals in the central part of the South Pacific Island nation.
Tonga police did not say the exact time when they carried out the operation, but police commissioner Stephen Caldwell said that the fight against drugs was a challenge for the whole country - not just police that would protect the country's borders and its people with everything that it takes.
