NEW DELHI, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- India's famous Bollywood actress Sridevi died due to "accidental drowning," India's state-run broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) reported on Monday.
AIR quoted a forensic report released by UAE government saying that the 54-year-old veteran actress died of accidental drowning in the bathtub of her hotel apartment after losing consciousness.
An autopsy report that refers to the actor as "Sreedevi Boney Kapoor Ayyappan" reads the cause of death is "accidental drowning."
Initial reports suggested that she died of cardiac arrest.
AIR said traces of alcohol were also found in the blood of veteran cine actress.
Sridevi died on Saturday night in Dubai city where she had gone to attend a family wedding.
According to AIR, Indian Consulate in Dubai was working closely with the local authorities to expedite the repatriation procedures.
The news of Sridevi's death came as a huge shock to the entire film fraternity and to her fans.
Meanwhile on Monday Bollywood actors made a beeline to Anil Kapoor's residence (brother-in-law of Sridevi) to express their sympathy with the bereaved family.
The actress has acted in over 300 films during her career.
She rose to fame not only in Hindi film industry (Bollywood), but also was acknowledged for her acting in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada cinema. Of late she had started a comeback in the industry in 2012, followed by another film "Mom" in 2017.
