MOSCOW, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Russian military has delivered over 20 tons of humanitarian supplies to the war-torn Syrian city of Aleppo in cooperation with the embassy of Belarus, Russia's defense ministry said Thursday.
"A total of 23 tons of humanitarian cargo, including 12.5 tons of foodstuffs, 4.3 tons of clothing and 6.2 tons of drugs and medical equipment, have been delivered," according to a daily bulletin posted on the ministry's website.
It added that the drugs and medical equipment had been delivered to Aleppo hospitals, and a local orphanage received children's items.
In addition, posts with hot meals and other daily necessities had been set up at seven checkpoints for civilians fleeing districts of Aleppo controlled by "terrorist armed groupings," according to the bulletin.
Separately, the Russian military unloaded over two tons of food, including sugar, flour, rice, canned products and tea, at a camp for temporary displaced persons set up in Jibrin near Aleppo, the ministry said.
